Quick Tips

  1. To not be interrupted by your telephone ringing (if you're in a meeting, etc) you can forward your telephone to go directly into phonemail by picking up the handset, and dialing # 9 5000. To cancel the forwarding, pick up your handset and dial # # 9
  2. To skip to your next waiting phonemail message, press * 2 at any time while listening to a message or message header
  3. To skip over and delete a phonemail message you don't want to listen to, press * 9 3, and then follow the recorded prompts
  4. To check your phone mail simply pick-up your handset and listen for a "broken dial tone" or "message waiting/phonemail" light will be flashing. Press the "message waiting/phonemail" button on your phone and follow the recorded prompts.
  5. To access phone mail from another phone on campus: Pick up your handset, dial 5000, then follow the recorded prompts.
  6. To access phone mail away from campus simply dial 721-5000, and follow the recorded prompts.
  7. To transfer a call, press the "XFER" button on your telephone. Do this directly with the person you are transferring on the line. Do not put them on hold. Dial the "extension" number of the person you are transferring the call to. When ringing is heard, hang up your handset. (You may also wait for second party to answer and then hand up the hand set.) To reconnect with the original call, press CONNECT.
  8. To forward your mail directly to Phonemail, pick up your handset and press #9. Then dial "5000." To cancel forwarding, pick-up the handset and press ## 9.
  9. To bypass a greeting to leave a message, dial the extension of the person for which you wish to leave the message. At any point during the greeting, simply press 1, wait for the tone and then record your message. (**You may miss some important information.)
  10. To change the ring pitch, leave the handset on phone. Press your line button (if you have one) and then press *572. When phone begins to ring, press any key from 1 through 0, pressing different keys to hear different pitches. Once desired pitch is heard, press line button. Your new ring pitch is set.
  11. To change the speed of a message, listen to the message, press 7 to decrease the speed and press 9 to increase the speed.
  12. To change the volume of a message, listen to a message, press 8 to increase volume and press 5 to decrease the volume.
